Innovation technology has always been a part of the production philosophy adopted by the Company: Di-Tech Sailmakers was one of the first to use the computer for sail making back in the 1980s, at a time when 90% of other sailmakers were still using the "old method" When we used glue in the 1990s, we were again one of the first. Now, the latest challenge presented, is using membranes with fibres.

It is now possible to make sails lighter and more durable without using panels, and to still keep the original shape of the sail much longer than you would with a traditional sail that is made with panels.

The quantity, quality and positioning of the fibres influence the shape of the sail. This technology alllows us to build a membrane that makes the "body of the sail", reinforced where necessary with strucural fibres, such as Polyester, Pentex, Kevlar, Spectra, Vectran and Carbon.

The membranes made by Di-Tech Sailmakers are sails made of two parts with structural fibres within, to optimise and personalize every type of sail.

The fundamental characteristics of Di-Tech Sailmakers membrane sails are:

  • Lightness

  • No sewing

  • Reduction in loss of original shape

The advantages are:

  • Reduction in heeling

  • Increased speed

  • More durability

  • Increased range of use

  • Holds the shape for longer
